WEDNESDAY Search Details/Plans

Hi guys, we currently have some folks out in the water, a helicopter in the air, and some folks on land.

Tomorrow please meet same place, same time. Greyhound parking at 10am. Lea will be there to coordinate. The poor woman needs a break from the sun so she will send folks off and then head for shade. Thanks for the hard work Lea!

There will be maps left in the Burgundy truck Marked "Search Party Vehicle"

There will be a sign in sheet

Thank you so much to all the people who participated in the search today:
Boaters, kayakers, planes, helicopter and all of the people that showed up and searched coast and other islands on foot.
A wonderful group of teams and searchers—even some Benedictine Nuns, and Residents of other Islands contributed to our efforts today.
Thanks to the folks that stayed by computers, researched and made phone calls when we needed you.

Kyle, You and your air crew were wonderful! Thanks.

  3. FYI: Matt who was out on Lummi Island today said it was impossible to cover the south side of the island on foot. He suggested having some kayakers hit that part of the island tomorrow (wed).

  4. Jessica just texted me and asked that I post that they are looking for anyone who might know how to change the oil in two wave runners to show up at the greyhound station between 9 and 10 tomorrow... "have tools and drain pan, we will supply filers and parts"

  6. I ran across this info in an oceanographic survey of Bellingham-Samish Bays:
"An example of wind effect was observed during the dye plant of 23 March 1961, when both dye and drift sticks moved northwest under influence of the wind while a drift pole moved southwest across the wind."

This is because surface objects will drift with the wind, while objects deeper in the water will drift with the tide.

Because the tide was ebbing strongly from 2:00 am until 9:30 am Friday, it strongly suggests that areas south and west of Clarkes Point are important targets.

  10. Wednesday Evening Search:

I too would like to be out looking this evening so I will be at the greyhound parking lot from 5:15 to 6:15 with maps and any updates from the day search but then I will be taking off.

Also, I do not have my phone with me at the moment so sorry if I miss your call! I will have it again around 1pm.

  11. Has anyone checked with the girls about the pin that was purchased at that guys store. It was a thumbs up pin that Gunther would of had on him at the time

  12. In the photos of Gunther's van, there were a bunch of pins on what looked like the curtains. He told me he was collecting them, so he may have added it to the ones there. If not in the van, it's safe to say he still had it on him.

Not sure how much it helps, but it's the only info I've got.
