Just a little bit about this blog.

I just wanted to say that I created this blog so we can all communicate about the search and fundraising efforts.  It is a forum for us all to communicate about what is going on.  It is NOT a place for judgements or ANYTHING that is not in the best interest of our efforts.  Any posts that even have a hint of negativity will be deleted.  I am not trying to offend anyone but we need to keep this a safe place for everybody to come and be in the know about the efforts of our community.  Please keep all posts specifically about our efforts.  It is OK to express your love for our friends and thank people, but there is a lot of information on here and we should try and keep it simple and straight forward.
Another concern that has been expressed is that there are two different trains of thought on wether we should still be searching or not. There is room for both and we need to respect each other and support each other no matter what.  Everyone needs to take care of each other in this crazy, confusing time.  We are all a part of a community that needs to stay strong and not let our personal beliefs come between us.
It is very important for everybody to be taking care of themselves right now and taking care of each other too.  PLEASE, PLEASE stay positive and supportive, no matter which side of the fence you are on.  Keep our blog a safe place for everyone.

  1. Well said Melissa. Thank you so much for starting this blog. It's been an amazing way for everyone to come together in our time of sadness this last week. You and many others seem to be working tirelessly keeping the blog updated and I know the countless people out there reading it with no way to get up here to help will be eternally grateful. I can't wait to get to meet and thank in person all of the people involved in this effort. My two days out were utterly exhausting and I just can't imagine how tired you constants must be. Melissa, without you, much of this would not have been possible. Thank you for giving me and the rest of us this outlet for our grief.

  2. I agree completely with Sarah above. Thank you...

  3. Melissa,
I agree completely with what you said. I also just wanted to post a quick note regarding all the energy that is being put out toward benefits and a potential memorial, which is amazing, but I just want to make sure everyone is communicating and coordinating and not rushing things. Some good friends of Gunthers including Nora, Laura and I are in contact with the family and thinking ahead toward events if anyone wants to plan something lets do it as a group effort. Contact me , Krista at and Nora at

  4. Well said Sarah, I agree totally!

Melissa - Could you contact me at so can get your email addy, I know it is on here somewhere but I can't seem to find it.

  5. I'm passing this on for Michelle-

This is so fucking sad. Not only have Gunther and Donnkie been good friends to us and many of you, they have also made the world a more beautiful, fun and honest place with their artwork. We at Jinx would love to help families and friends, in any way possible...for now, by trying to collect any images of them and their artwork for their family and close friends. If you have photos of them, or of Donnkies paintings, please contact Michelle at or Nora Hughes at with digital images or questions. If you need help making copies, photographing artwork, or scanning anything, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Take care.
    Michelle Schutte
and everyone at Jinx Art Space

  6. I agree..thank you for being articulate, thoughtful and balanced.. I've had the same juxtaposition myself on how to feel or act in the two directions of hope and memorial and celebration of these important, warm, talented guys..and have been tied in hoping I can leave soon and come up to support in some way..
Oof..I hate to go home and think of looking for old pieces of friendship treasures, photos, etc. you never expected to dig through for this reason...
