The Organized effort of these past days went very well. A lot of territory has been covered. Again, It may seem we are searching in the same areas over and over, but if we keep in mind that the same territory changes daily, we know it is essential to continue searching and supporting the family where ever and whenever we can. Your own search or contribution may not be documented on a search party map or acknowledged on this blog but every effort does count. We are still out there. Many of us will continue searching daily on individual walks and excursions with any time we have available until we find answers. Thank you Jeff and Elena for contributing so much to the concerted effort and everyone who is still searching quietly on their own.
I'm picking up food for this am search, bringing coffee. We are STILL searching, a lot of people are tired but NOT GIVING UP. Map will continually get up-dated, I think some people are searching by foot and not necessarily meeting at the greyhound station but will be in touch with everyone.
I will be out searching through the woods later on today as well.
Lets show this boys how much love they have given and how loved they are
Also posted to Wednesday updates: Jim and I covered Blanchard then south and west along the shore to include the east side of Samish Island. Impossible to inspect all the sloughs at the river mouth, but fairly confident nothing is there.
Hey Maria I don't know if you noticed but my friend Jayme who works for Trader Joe's said to stop in and ask for Jayme Wiseman for some snack and beverages. cheers nico
Any searching on the NE coast of Guemes? Based on what we (think we) know about the currents, that's a likely zone, and so far I don't think that there's been any mention of searching there.
Also -- very good that Tip and Jim got out to Samish Island. Does the map reflect what you were able to do? As w/ Guemes, that's a likely zone...
I searched down south around Chuckanut Point and a little at Teddybear Cove the other day. What concerned me was that the property owners that I spoke to in order to have beach access were suprised to hear that we were still searching. If there was a way to get the word out to them that Gunther and Donkey have not yet been found, maybe they could keep an eye out.
I have figured out how to attach images to the map of where items were found. I will try to gather as many of the images that I can but it may also be good to just email me kara@bellinghamcreative.com
I have only 2 sets of images that I have loaded on the map. Please send any photos you have of relevant items found. The life jacket photos, blue flip flop size 11, and wasn't there a cushion from the boat found? Can't remember where that was found and if there was an image?
Has anyone notified the Washington State Ferries to keep an eye out as well? I don't know if they may see anything, but it wouldn't hurt to have another set of eyes daily looking for them.
Today a Brown baseball cap that appeared to haven't been in the water very long by the metal on it was found in the seaweed about a 1/8 mile north of the tunnel at Taylor Shellfish at Samish. Description: brown, white emblem of a star with a band through it, and said "Famous Stars and Straps", size 7 1/2. As described to me on the phone so I don't have it.
Also last Friday, 6/5, evening a very rusty 5 gal. propane tank (like used for barbecue) was found floating high in the current line close to shore from the north to south just before high tide, it was brought in and hauled out as garbage.
As far as the searching of Guemes goes, it was hit on thursday by myself and Tak on the waverunners as well as a few of the surrounding islands and rock formation, south end of Lummi and a small section of Portage island.

Please also know that Gunther's family is extremely grateful for everyone's efforts and they are amazed at how many people loved Gunther.
ReplyDeleteSean's Family has also expressed their gratitude.
ReplyDeleteSteven (Sean's Father) has not been able to comment on this blog yet, but has expressed his appreciation verbally for all the efforts.
By the way, Alan is heading out right now on his boat to search the shore line again today.
Thanks Alan.

Correction on that ball cap color it was black with white emblem and lettering and maybe wool.
