We are trying to put together a map of places that have been searched and locations of items found. If you have been out there searching or have found an item please leave a comment under this heading or email kara@bellinghamcreative.com. Also, if you have been out there you are amazing! I've created a spreadsheet to log the relevant information. Anyone with data to add should email me at mikeatoman@gmail.com and I'll give them permission to edit the sheet. This way we'll have a central repository of what's been done, what's been found...

  5. I have two highlighted maps of the searched areas and where things were found.
A Lot of territory has been covered.
It may seem we are searching in the same areas over and over, but if we keep in mind that the same territory changes daily, we know it is essential to continue searching.
I will be at the meeting point at 10:00 to go searching if someone wants to pick up the maps.

  6. I was @ Locust Beach on Monday between 7:30-9:00PM. Did not find anything. Matt, Norah, and Jillian were there as well. Has Teddy Bear Cove been searched in the last few days? I would like to head over there after 5:00 PM.

  7. Rachael and Josh searched Teddy Bear Cove (on foot)on Monday afternoon. We went north along the Mud Bay trestle and saw the same old navy flip-flop someone else had mentioned. We went south, down to the bend in the tracks. We went into the woods where we could, but with all the brush there's places we could have missed.

  12. I've been searching the west, south and east tip of Clark's Point whenever I get a chance, at least once or twice a day. This is around my house, so it's an easy trek for me. I'll check again tonight when I get home.

  13. Last night (Tuesday) Hollie & I walked the railroad tracks between Woodstock Farms & Yacht Club Rd off Chuckanut and didn't see anything except for some kind of black upside-down table bench thing floating in the water--I don't think it's relevant.

My brother & his girlfriend walked the beach at the end of Cornwall last night, passed Junk Beach to where the big barges are and they found: Life jackets that say "FHS" on them (probably Ferndale High School), a tennis shoe, an old blue sweatshirt on a stick and an old white pillow. They don't call it junk beach for nothing but they brought the life jackets and shoe in case they ring a bell for anyone. I also have pictures of these things on my phone that I can email.

On Monday evening a few of us drove out Marine Drive and along Lummi Shore Drive north of where the rudder was found and didn't see much, there's a lot of junk in Marietta so it's hard to know what's important. Didn't see much on Lummi Island either. It's probably better to check the shore via kayak or boat because beach access is limited on foot along the coast north of Locust/Corey's beach to the Lummi Ferry.

  14. Kara - The spot marked as Oyster Creek from Tip's comment 6/8 is not correct. The creek is south of Clayton at Samish where Taylor Shellfish is. The wrecked boat can be seen as white spot when zoomed satellite south of Samish around the curve in the shoreline just west of the Chuckanut Dr. bridge over the slough. The area between Taylor's and Clayton Beach is frequented almost daily except for about a mile and half that has been searched & will be again both by kayak & foot. Your doing a great job folks!

  15. I was on the boat that found the life jacket on Lummi. That was Monday afternoon. We needed to compare the straps on that jacket to the other orange horseshoe jackets on the boat. I'm not sure if that was ever done, or if anyone was able to positively id it as coming from Gunther's boat.

  16. Thanks Bruce. Does it look correct now? Any other searched areas to add to the map?

  18. Besides the cove north of the tunnel I got quite a bit farther south, from the mouth of Oyster Creek (seen as the small creek delta) down past Taylor Shellfish with good vantage and field glasses to see around the bight a ways. Had pretty good shot to about as far as where S. Blanchard Road would intersect the water - but only on foot to the end of Taylor.

Left word with folks there to keep an eye out and they will pass it on to friends in the area.

  19. JUST BECAUSE THEY WERN'T THERE TODAY, DOESN'T MEAN THEY WONT BE THERE TOMORROW. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE WATER AND THE SHORELINE. NO ONE LEFT BEHIND.
