  2. I will be flying over the area around 2pm when the tide ebbs in. I will cover all the island areas that airspace will allow me to and I will post areas covered once I land. Also, today a few of us covered some of the area on the rez from Portage Channel through Hale Passage up into Lummi Bay. I will keep checking there. A good map is Fish n Map co-San Juan Islands so. gulf islands, strait of juan de fuca.

  3. i have printed off many maps, and am looking forward to seeing many of you there to help cover ground from Marietta, Portage and Lummi beaches, to the waters off Cypress, Sinclair and Guemes Islands. "subject to change" of course, because i am not your leader. Just a freind giving it my all.

  4. Ok everyone, just a word of caution here. Your enthusiasm is really awesome, but PLEASE be safe out there. This is not worth anyone else endangering his/her life, and the last thing you want to do is create another Search and Rescue. If these two are still alive, they are on land somewhere. Please proceed carefully, and if you set out across the water, make sure you have life preservers, a phone or radio, and that someone knows where you are going and when to expect you back. I live outside the area, or else I'd come help out myself. Good luck people.

  5. wont really know til tomorrow, my thoughts are the more the better, yet a hint of reality doesnt hurt either, yet we were raised to question reality, so to answer you Erin, love to have you if you can make it. I'll save the "crows nest" for you.

  6. Just spoke with Jessica and the families research suggests that a good place to search tomorrow could be between Clarkes Point and Teddy Bear Cove (?) (Mud Bay) by the Tressel.... Contact has still not been made between the girls and the families....

  7. I wonder what possible rationale "the girls" have for not coming forward to pleading family members and friends. Surely at least one of them is reading this and/or the Herald comments and ALL of them know from the community that the family wants to speak with them. Do the right thing, girls.

  8. It has been confirmed that they are the young girls that live behind Sean's place in Bellingham... Apparently some of them had to leave town... ???! Hopefully this will all be settled by the morning.

  9. Yikes. You really wanna give people the benefit of the doubt but I just can't imagine the reasoning here...

  11. I am looking to leave from Portland tomorrow afternoon or tuesday morning as soon as I can make arrangements -- please let me know if anyone wants to come & carpool.

My hopes & praise go out to everyone looking and helping! & Peter Jensen who is investigating the story!

p.s. -- Does anyone have a secure place in bham that I could set up my computer at with wifi or an ethernet cable high-speed situation? & Does anyone know where there are some decent aerial maps of the bay on the internet? Tide info & stuff like that?

  12. I've left the food from the Co-op with my friends Danny and Mark up in Bellingham and they'll bring it to you guys. There is a ton of water, stuff for peanut butter sandwiches, trail mix, nuts, rice cakes and fruit (not washed - make sure to give it a good rinse). Hope it helps you guys stay hydrated and give you some energy today. All my love and thoughts with Donnkie and Gunther.

  13. Has Kelly come forward yet? He is the other guy that was on the boat, one of the "girls" the Herald reported. I know I can get his contact info after 8am today.

  14. Not sure... wouldn't hurt. please get the number.m my private email is juneaumelissa@hotmail.com so you could email it there.

if nothing else tell him that he should at least be trying to help find these guys.

  15. I sent you the info, Melissa. I don't really know him so I just left a message letting him know I was passing on his number and asking him to contact the families.

  16. Kelly has contacted some of the faily members however he is also grieving over the loss of his friends and dog and needs tie to process what has happend. FYI: The story that the herald reported has the facts quite wrong. After the boat flipped Kelly tried to get everyone to stay with the boat but 4 of the people (Donkey, Gunther, two of the girls) chose to try to swim to shore. Two of them didnt make it. Kelly and the third women stayed with the boat until it floated closer to shore which at that point they were able to swim in.

  17. Thanks for the clarification. That was the original story I had heard from one of Kelly's co-workers. I did acknowledge in my message that maybe he had already done what he could. I'll encourage honoring his space now. He has one of the hardest realities to process now. My heart goes out.

  25. Sunscreen people, don't forget your sunscreen! I was out on the boat with Jeff Meyers for about 6 hours yesterday and my face is pretty fried. We just spend so much time staring and squinting at the water that I didn't even notice the sun. I know today is overcast, but those can be some of the worst. Good luck today! I have some stuff to do this am, but I'd really like to do something this afternoon. I'll check this as soon as I get back from Mt. Vernon if anyone wants to coordinate early afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm also interested in helping out this afternoon (as early as 2)...to those meeting up please post here to let me (and anyone else) know!
